From One Restaurant to 12

Marquis & Co. / HipCityVeg

How EYB grew alongside a restaurant group and became an extension of their team.

The relationship

From T-shirts to a long-term partnership

EYB began working with Marquis & Co. when HipCityVeg opened its first location in 2012.

What started with branded T-shirts developed into a long-term relationship as the company grew to 12 restaurants — 10 HipCityVeg locations plus two full-service restaurant concepts, Charlie was a sinner. and Bar Bombón.

As their business grew, our role grew with them. EYB became a resource for uniforms, branded merchandise, online ordering, bulk purchasing, creative ideas, logistics, and finding solutions that made life easier for their management teams.

This wasn’t about completing one order. It was about understanding the business, adapting as it grew, and being there when the client needed us.

In their words

The order was never the point. Understanding the business was.

We’ve been working with Scott since the opening of our first store in 2012. We started small with just t-shirts, but have since expanded to several different products through EYB. Scott has gone above and beyond to accommodate all of our uniform needs, and even rolled out an online ordering site to ease the administrative burden on our management teams. He always offers new and creative solutions for any of our uniform and swag needs, and has been extremely helpful in negotiating bulk price discounts for our ever-expanding brands.

Supporting growth

Making ordering easier as they grew

As Marquis & Co. expanded, managing uniforms and branded items across multiple restaurant locations became more complicated.

EYB created an online ordering program that allowed locations to order their staff uniforms and other branded items through one centralized system.

  • Take advantage of preferred pricing
  • Maintain brand consistency across every location
  • Track what individual locations were ordering and spending
  • Reduce storage issues
  • Simplify accounting and administration

This is another example of how EYB’s role evolved as the client’s business grew.

When merch became part of the solution

8,000+ Blankets. One Critical Need.

During the pandemic, outdoor dining became essential to keeping restaurants open.

EYB worked with the Marquis & Co. team to provide branded blankets that helped keep guests warm and comfortable while dining outside. Over a 12-month period, their restaurants ordered more than 8,000 blankets.

But this program wasn’t simply about providing another branded product.

  • Extend the outdoor dining season
  • Provide a better guest experience
  • Generate additional sales
  • Keep operating through the hardest period the hospitality industry had ever faced

Going beyond the order

Weekends. Holidays. Whenever they needed it.

The blanket program also created another challenge: logistics.

EYB looked for ways to help Marquis & Co. control costs while making sure its restaurants had blankets when they needed them.

Instead of having every blanket order shipped individually to the restaurants, Scott rented a U-Haul van and personally delivered blankets as inventory was needed. Weekends. Holidays. Whenever the restaurants needed inventory, Scott made sure they had it.

This on-demand delivery approach helped save the client money on freight and delivery fees while reducing the risk of restaurants running out of blankets during a critical period.

The partnership

More than merch. A partner in the business.

EYB didn’t simply supply products.

We created solutions, managed logistics, found ways to control costs, and adapted as our client’s needs changed.

What started with T-shirts for one restaurant developed into a relationship supporting a 12-restaurant group with uniforms, branded merchandise, online ordering, bulk purchasing, and a critical outdoor dining program.

Branded pieces from the wider program — one more thing the group no longer has to source on its own.

That’s what EYB means by becoming an extension of our clients’ teams.
